Tips and Tricks to Finding That Perfect Venue

Finding the perfect venue can be daunting, but don’t fret. We are here with quick tips and in-depth resources for you to make that choice a breeze.

Tip 1: Location, Location, Location.

When looking for that perfect spot, think travel time, access to wedding vendors, professional staff and the almighty budget. Where do these items converge? Distance from the ceremony is also a pertinent question. Some venues can double as a ceremony and reception site. Make sure to ask.

Tip 2: Think outside the Barn.

Hotels, Barns, Country Clubs, and Mansions are wonderful selections and are extremely well suited for weddings. In addition to those, today’s options for weddings have expanded into new industries. Professional theaters, art galleries, vineyards and museums now have special events departments catering to the couple that are ready to look beyond the traditional. We recommend if you have a unique venue space in mind, to reach out to them well in advance. Many locations like museums, art galleries, and large theaters, would have to book weddings around their already scheduled performances and openings to the public.

Tip 3: Questions are your BEST Ally.

You know that teacher that said “There are no stupid questions.” When you are planning your wedding, always ask. Every venue has their own set of rules, amenities and opportunities to make your day perfect. Some venues have certain time limits for your ceremony and reception, or specific guidelines for set-up. Others might have expansive table decor options, lighting effects and sound choices built-in. These are all items you would need to ask of the venue if you have definitive ideas you want incorporated in your wedding. Check for a venue brochure as you tour. This not only gives you a visual reference, but also a physical list of amenities and preferred wedding vendors.
