Let’s Get Engaged!
It might be all the pumpkin spice in the air, but we’re excited to share some tips about getting engaged!
When is the best time to get engaged?
If you’re planning on proposing to your significant other in the foreseeable future, there are a few things to consider before you decide on the right time to pop the question. We’ve seen that Thanksgiving and Valentine’s Day are actually very popular holidays for when couples get engaged and December is the most popular month for marriage proposals. There’s certainly no right or wrong time to propose or to announce your engagement, but it might be beneficial to think about some of the details we’ve highlighted below prior to the engagement.
Make it a family affair.
Do you visit your families during the holidays, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s? If so, you will definitely want to share such wonderful news with them as soon as possible. You can plan to propose with your family and friends surrounding you to witness the wonderful occasion, or set it up shortly before the holidays so the news is fresh conversation for when you do pay them a visit. The holidays can be super romantic and bring heart-warming sentimentality to the special day, so make sure it’s a memorable story that you’ll want to tell over and over again.
Give yourself time to plan.
The latter half of the calendar year is a great time to get engaged if you have your heart set on a spring or summer wedding. Getting engaged before the end of winter allows time to research, plan, and book your venue(s) and vendors for your special day. Spend time over your holiday break with friends and family to help you get ideas for your wedding’s location, theme, colors and menu. Check out our Find A Vendor page where you can find all kinds of vendors and services that you’ll need for your wedding.
Put some money in the bank.
Getting engaged during the Fall or Winter not only gives you time to plan your spring or summer wedding, but it will also give your friends and family time to plan and save up some moolah. It’s especially helpful if you are planning a destination wedding or if you have out of town guests. Check out our Wedding Destination and Venue Books for beautiful location options and wedding style inspiration.
We hope these tips are useful in helping you plan your engagement and would love to hear from you!
